সকলের জন্যই বিশেষ করে স্কুল কলেজের ছাত্রছাত্রী, কর্মপ্রার্থীদের অবশ্যপাঠ্য পুস্তক যার থেকে প্রত্যেককেই নতুন করে ভাবতে অনুপ্রেরণা পাবে। যদি নিজেকে না বদলাতে চাও, নিজের দুর্বলতা এবং অসফলতা নিয়েই বাঁচতে চাও তাহলে এই বইয়ের কোনো মূল্য নাই। তুমি যদি এই বইটকে শুধু ছাপা কাগজ বলে মনে করো তাতে তোমার কোনো অসুবিধা হবে না, কিন্তু সত্যিই যদি নিজের জীবনকে পূর্ণতা দিতে চাও, যদি সাধারণ হয়ে না থাকতে চাও, তাহলে বইটি পড়ো ও ভাবতে থাকো, গভীরভাবে ভাবতে থাকো এবং এই মুহূর্ত থেকেই শুরু করো। প্রশিক্ষণকেন্দ্র এবং বাবা-মা বা অভিভাবকদেরও অবশ্য পাঠ্য পুস্তক।

যারা ছাত্রছাত্রী বা বয়সে ছোটো তারা প্রত্যেকেই চায় বড়ো হয়ে কিছু না কিছু হতে। কেউ চায় ডাক্তার, ইঞ্জিনিয়ার, ব্যারিস্টার, জজ, দক্ষ প্রকাশক হতে আবার কেউ বা চায় ক্রিকেটার, ফুটবলার, অভিনেতা, গায়ক, বৈজ্ঞানিক বা সফল ব্যবসায়ী হতে। প্রত্যেকেই চায় বড় হয়ে জীবনে সফল এবং প্রতিষ্ঠিত হতে। কিন্তু চাইলেই তো হবে না, সফল হতে হলে চাই নির্দিষ্ট লক্ষ্য এবং সেই লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছানোর জন্য চাই অধ্যাবসায়, নিষ্ঠা, মনোযোগ এবং প্রবল ইচ্ছাশক্তি। চাই একনাগাড়ে লেগে থাকার মানসিকতা। সকলেই হয়তো অমর্ত্য সেন, হরবিন্দ খোরানা, চন্দ্রশেখর, জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর, শচীন তেন্ডুলকর, সানিয়া মির্জা বা জামশেদজি টাটা হবে না, কিন্তু অবশ্যই একটি নির্দিষ্ট লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছাতে সমর্থ হবে। চাওয়া ও পাওয়ার মধ্যে আছে বিস্তর ফারাক বা দূরত্ব। ঐ দূরত্ব কমিয়ে নির্দিষ্ট চাওয়ার জিনিষ পেতে গেলে পরবর্তী অধ্যায়ে আলোচিত বিষয়গুলি স্মরণ রাখতে হবে এবং যথাসম্ভব নিজের জীবনে প্রয়োগ করতে সচেষ্ট হতে হবে। পরবর্তী অধ্যায়গুলি, বিভিন্ন মনিষীদের অভিজ্ঞতা এবং উপদেশ, বিভিন্ন পত্র পত্রিকায় প্রকাশিত সমীক্ষা এবং প্রতিবেদন, বিভিন্ন সফল ব্যক্তিদের জীবনী থেকে পাওয়া তথ্য, বিভিন্ন দেশ ও বিদেশের পুস্তক থেকে অনুসন্ধান এবং নিজের জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতার ভিত্তিতে বর্ণিত হল যা তোমাদের চলার পথের সাথী হবে এবং তুমি যা করতে বা হতে চাইছ তা অবশ্যই করতে বা হতে পারবে।
